The Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) (former name: Electronic Industry Code of Conduct) consists of more than 30 major electronics and electrical companies around the world, as they get together to have the same objective in improving the working conditions and environmental stewardship throughout their electronics supply chain. This group of companies supports a common code - "Electronic Industry Code of Conduct" - the EICC Code. This Code sets forth performance, compliance, auditing and reporting guidelines across a range of company general practices, including (1) labor, (2) health & safety, (3) environmental practices, (4) ethics and (5) management systems. It is widely adopted and becoming the standard for social responsibility in the electronic sector.
Prior to the release of this Code of Conduct, electronic companies used their own respective code of conduct, and suppliers were subjected to multiple, independent vendor audits based on different criteria. The facilitation of this collaboration for the adoption of a single, global Electronic Industry Code of Conduct reflects the participating companies' commitment to leadership in the area of corporate social responsibility and builds capability within the supply base in the electronic sector.
